Installation instructions

Installing a neck illusion fingerboard protector is simple, just follow this simple steps.

STEP 1

Remove OR loosen the strings to fully expose the fingerboard.

STEP 2

Clean the fingerboard thoroughly to remove any dirt, dust and grime. If using your favorite fingerboard cleaner, be sure to follow Step 3.

STEP 3

Wipe away any excess cleaner and make sure to allow it to completely dry before proceeding to the next step. It is also recommend to wash your hands to prevent any oils from sticking to the adhesive side of the fingerboard protector decals.

STEP 4

Begin by peeling away the first fret decal from the backing sheet by placing the sheet on a flat hard surface. Using a wooden toothpick makes it easier to separate the decal from the backing sheet.

STEP 5

Start with the decal that is closest to the head-stock. Position into place by centering itbetween the top and bottom of the fingerboard. A small gap (as indicated by the arrows) is necessaryfor UN-obstructed playabilty.

STEP 6

Apply each fingerboard decal one at a time maintaining the centering position. This will give a nice even edge to the fingerboard protector and enhance the illusion of the graphic. If you misplace a decal, don't worry, you can use a wooden toothpick to easily lift it back up and reapply it into the correct position.

NOTE:

Notice how the edges of the fingerboard protector are lined up giving the illusion of a single piece of wood.

NOTE:

The space on the fingerboard after the last fret will vary depending on your instrument. In the next step we are going to custom fit a piece to complete the look.

STEP 7

Place the next remaining decal into the centered position onto the fingerboard.  Using a pencil, draw a line on the area that will need to be trimmed.

STEP 8

Using the wooden toothpick, gently remove the decal.

STEP 9

Using scissors, carefully trim away the excess area following the line that you drew in step 7.

STEP 10

Carefully position the modified piece into place.

NOTE:

The trimmed decal completes the look of the neck illusions fingerboard protector.

STEP 11

Replace the strings, re-tune and play!
